Cereal bars can be a great option for your child's snack. However, there are several products available on the market that contain artificial ingredients and preservatives. The easiest way to avoid these ingredients is to make your homemade cereal bar.
The recipe is simple and you can add fresh and dried fruits, as well as nuts.
My choice of fresh fruit was bananas and apples because they are naturally sweet and rich in vitamin C and fiber. In addition, bananas contain vitamin B6 and potassium.
For this recipe you will need:
6 tablespoon almond flour
6 tablespoons oatmeal baby cereal
3 tablespoons rice flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 smashed banana
1 peeled and grated apple
2 tablespoons almond butter
dried fruits and nuts to taste, I used about 2 tablespoon of raisins, chopped prunes and almonds.
How to prepare:
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, except the nuts and dried fruit. Add dried fruit and nuts when dough is ready to be shaped into a rectangle.
Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and shape into a rectangle.
Bake at 350F for 15min.
Let it cool completely before cutting and serving.
Storage in a closed container for up to 2 days.
